Something to chew on...

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

Hebrews 4:12

    wow~~~ go, yurim! :)
& you asked a GREAT question.

a birthright was given to the oldest son of a family. When his dad dies, the oldest son would become the leader of his family and he would get double the things that belonged to his dad.

I guess, in modern terms, you can think of it as a father's will- when the father dies, his first-born son would inherit (get/receive) DOUBLE the things his other brothers would get. So, for example: if a father had 2 sons and owned 3 pigs- the eldest brother would get 2 pigs & the younger brother 1 pig because of his BIRTHRIGHT.

So, in Genesis 25, when it says "Esau despised his birthright"- he thought it was insignificant & unimportant. He sold his birthright to leading the family & getting double the things his dad owned JUST FOR SOME STEW! T_T

Does this answer your question? :)
Let us know if you're still confused.
